My Dispensational Friend

Adam has been invited to this blog, but has declined. Even so Adam e-mails me comments. Here are some recent ones:

  • "I know that you are not crazy about dispensationalism, but have you ever the theory or idea that the seven churches in Revelation represent seven different periods of time (or covenants)? For example, the first church (Ephesus) could represent the Adamic period of time (or covenant) because it says: 'Remember the height from which you fell.' (Adam fell) And it also says: 'the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.' The tree of life was in the Garden of Eden, which was a paradise on earth for a while. Then the next church (Smyrna) could be the Abrahamic period of time (or covenant) because it says: 'you are rich.' Abraham was incredibly wealthy according to Genesis 13:2. And it also says: 'suffer persecution for ten days.' Abraham sent his servant out to get Rebecca, and they wanted to keep her ten days (Genesis 24:55)."
  • Then another time Adam wrote: "I personally believe we are the church of Philadelphia in Revelation. The name 'Philadelphia' means 'brotherly love.' "
  • Adam furthermore writes: "The apostle Paul himself was a dispensationalist. How do I know this? Because he said: 'If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God
which is given me to you."' Ephesians 3:2 and 'Wherefore I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God.' Colossians 1:25
  • February 7, 2010 Adams writes:  "You know that I am fascinated with the rapture. There are three things that are associated with it: 1) a shout 2) a voice and 3) a trump. (1 Thessalonians 4:16) But did you know that the fall of Jericho in the Old Testament is also a"picture" of the rapture? You have 1) a shout 2) the voice of Joshua 3) trumpet blast "...the people will go up, every man straight in." (Joshua 6:5)"
Hopefully some of your out there will respond to Adam's interpretations.

Law and Gospel: an example

I made this video a while back, but I just got it finished today.

The LCMS leaders have decided to sell KFUO FM in St. Louis, and we've decided to podcast about it. Why oh why are we squandering our resources?
